Laney Weis delivered a complete performance, dominating from the circle and the batter's box to lead the Southland Rebels to a commanding 9-0 victory over Mabel-Canton on Tuesday. The win pushes the Rebels' impressive early-season record to 5-1 overall.
Weis was simply untouchable, pitching a complete-game shutout and allowing just two hits while striking out a remarkable 14 batters. She wasn't done there, however, as she also powered the offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three crucial RBIs and scoring twice herself.
The Rebels' offense provided plenty of support behind their ace. Haylee Lowe added two hits and an RBI, while Shannon Kiefer also drove in a run. The team showed patience and power, working walks and collecting extra-base hits, including doubles from Kiley Koenigs and Clara Timm, to secure the decisive win in Rose Creek.
