In a clash of Texas 4A baseball titans, it was Panther Creek that emerged victorious in a tense 1-0 pitchers' duel over Spring Hill Thursday night in Canton. The game, a showcase of elite high school talent, kept fans on the edge of their seats from the first pitch to the final dramatic play.

Spring Hill's Mason Barnes and Panther Creek's Dawson Stokan traded zeros for four innings, each showing why they're among the top arms in the state. The deadlock was broken in the top of the fifth when Caiden Kelly laced an RBI double to left, scoring Dylan McDonald and giving Panther Creek a slim 1-0 lead.

Spring Hill refused to go quietly. Trailing by one in the bottom of the seventh, they put runners on first and second with two outs. That's when Travis Allen stepped to the plate and sent a towering drive to left-center field. It looked destined for extra bases, but Panther Creek centerfielder Graylyn Fry had other ideas, making a spectacular diving catch to end the game and preserve the shutout.

The win gives Panther Creek a 1-0 lead in the 4A-D2 regional semifinal series. Game two is set for Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Caddo Mills High School, where Spring Hill will look to even the series and keep their season alive.
