Reece James is poised to give Chelsea a major lift ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City, with reports suggesting the right-back is ready to make his first start since March.

The Blues head to Wembley aiming to secure their first domestic trophy since 2018 and snap a winless streak against Pep Guardiola's side that stretches back to 2021. After a challenging season that has left Chelsea ninth in the Premier League, lifting the FA Cup represents their best—and perhaps only—route to European football next term.

James made his long-awaited return from injury as a second-half substitute in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Liverpool, which ended a run of six straight league defeats. Interim manager Calum McFarlane confirmed the England international has trained well this week, and according to The Telegraph, he's now ready to feature from the start—potentially deployed in midfield or as a right wing-back against the reigning champions.

McFarlane has also confirmed goalkeeper Robert Sanchez will be available for selection, while there's optimism that defender Levi Colwill can start once again. Having both James and Colwill in the lineup would significantly strengthen Chelsea's defensive solidity, giving the Blues a fighting chance against City's formidable attack.

The FA Cup final has historically been a stage for heroes to emerge, and James—with his leadership and versatility—could be the difference-maker Chelsea desperately need. His return to the starting XI would not only boost morale but also add a tactical edge to a side seeking to end a difficult season on a high note.
