Good news is on the horizon for the Seattle Mariners' rotation as right-hander Bryce Miller is set to take a major step in his recovery. After being sidelined the entire season with a left oblique strain, Miller will begin a rehab assignment this Saturday with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers.

This is a significant development for a Mariners team navigating the early part of the season. While the club aims to build momentum during a six-game homestand, getting a key starter like Miller back on track is crucial for their long-term pitching depth and playoff aspirations.

General Manager Justin Hollander outlined the plan, noting Miller will start on a cautious two-inning, 30-pitch limit against the Sacramento River Cats. His schedule will see him pitch every six days, with his pitch count gradually increasing as he progresses. The rehab stint is expected to last the full 30 days, targeting a return to the big-league mound in mid-to-late May.

Miller's excitement was palpable as he rejoined the team in Seattle. "I watched every game from the couch," he said before Friday's game against Texas. "It's fun watching the guys compete, but I'd rather do it from the dugout... Glad to be back and watching from the dugout tonight."

In other roster news, outfielder Victor Robles will remain with the Mariners, providing continued defensive flexibility and speed off the bench as the team manages its outfield rotation. As the M's look to climb in the AL West standings, these incremental player updates are key pieces of the puzzle for the grueling MLB season ahead.
