The Rays' farm system is heating up, and Week 5 of the minor league season delivered plenty of standout performances worth watching. At the heart of the action is 19-year-old catcher Caden Bodine, who has quickly proven he's too advanced for Single-A competition. After reclaiming the top hitter spot in the Rays' system according to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the majors), Bodine was crushing the ball at a .411 clip entering Sunday. Though a hitless outing slightly cooled him off, he still boasts an impressive .397/.442/.629 slash line with 4 home runs and a 184 wRC+ over 131 plate appearances. It's only a matter of time before he gets a promotion.
On the mound, Aidan Cremarosa continues to dominate as the organization's top minor league pitcher—and one of the best in all of baseball. Selected by the Rays in the 8th round of the 2025 draft out of Fresno State, the 22-year-old has been nearly unhittable. Over six starts in Single-A, Cremarosa owns a 2.38 ERA with a stellar 2.01 FIP, striking out 38.3% of batters while walking just 3.9% across 34 innings. His latest outing was truly special: a complete-game no-hitter, a rare feat in Rays organizational history. Keep an eye on this rising arm.
Elsewhere in the system, right-hander TJ Nichols has begun a rehab assignment with the FCL Rays, while 2024 international signing Andreimi Antunez had a monster day on Friday. The infielder went 4-for-6, launching two home runs in the first inning (including a grand slam) and finishing with 2 doubles and a jaw-dropping 10 RBIs. It's the kind of breakout performance that gets scouts talking.
Baseball America has also taken notice of a few Rays prospects. The publication recently highlighted 12 prospects with impressive early-season exit velocities, and two Rays—Taitn Gray and Nathan Flewelling—made the list. Additionally, Baseball America has updated its Top 100 prospect rankings, with several Rays players earning spots. (The full shake-up is significant, so stay tuned for an updated top 10 list once the rankings are fully released.)
For now, here's a quick snapshot of the team leaders across the system—though note that Victor Mesa Jr. hasn't played since April 15, and Jacob Melton landed on the IL on April 23. On offense, Mesa Jr. leads in batting average (.323), on-base percentage (.417), slugging percentage (.565), and wRC+ (153), while Blake Sabol and Dom Keegan share the home run lead with 5 each. Jacob Melton still holds the stolen base lead with 17. On the pitching side, the staff continues to impress, led by Cremarosa's dominance.
Whether you're tracking future stars or just love the game, the Rays' minor league system is giving fans plenty of reasons to stay tuned.
