Tuesday night saw a mix of thrilling comebacks and tough losses across the local high school sports scene. In baseball, the Fairfield Falcons staged a valiant rally against Churubusco but ultimately fell short, 11-6. The Eagles built a commanding 7-0 lead before Fairfield's four-run fifth inning brought them within striking distance. Lucas Miller was a bright spot for the Falcons, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored, while also pitching four solid innings of hitless ball on the mound.

Elsewhere on the diamond, the Westview Warriors suffered a heartbreaking walk-off loss to Garrett, undone by a three-run seventh inning. Despite strong performances from Brendan Miller and Elijah Zolman, who each tallied two hits, and a stellar 9-strikeout outing from Zolman on the bump, Westview dropped to 0-3. Meanwhile, John Glenn's offense exploded for a 21-run, 23-hit performance to overpower Concord, thanks in part to an 11-run seventh inning that sealed the road victory.

On the softball field, the Wawasee Warriors provided the night's most dramatic finish with a walk-off victory over Columbia City. After surrendering four runs in the first inning, Wawasee chipped away, ultimately out-hitting the Eagles 15-9. The Bontrager sisters led the charge, with Melissa and MariJo each crushing three doubles and driving in two runs apiece. Pitcher Chasity Kelich sealed the 2-3 team's win with a complete-game effort.

The golf courses were also busy, with Fairfield and Concord competing at Elcona Country Club. Fairfield's team, led by Jake Elliot's low round of 38, finished second to a strong Elkhart squad, securing a 1-1 start to their season. Northridge, however, stole the show with two narrow non-conference victories at Meadow Valley, powered by medalist Cooper Kropf's even-par 36.
