The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team is officially on fire. On Thursday evening at McWhirter Field, the Tigers extended their scorching win streak to an incredible 14 games by sweeping a doubleheader from Mount Marty.

DWU took control early, securing a 7-4 victory in Game 1 before grinding out a 4-2 win in the nightcap. With the sweep, the Tigers' record climbs to an impressive 32-11 overall and a dominant 15-1 in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play, solidifying their hold on first place.

The offense wasted no time setting the tone. In the opener, a single from Liliana Arreola and a three-run blast from Avery Perkins in the first inning gave DWU a commanding 4-0 lead. Jaycee Tebay later added a two-run homer in the sixth to help secure the win. Pitcher Alison Ernsberger was stellar, striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings to earn her 13th victory of the season.

Game 2 was a tighter battle, but the Tigers' power proved decisive once again. Avery Perkins continued her huge day at the plate, crushing her second home run of the doubleheader—a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Jordyn Blogg provided crucial insurance with a solo homer in the sixth. Mandalyn Nachtigall was sharp in the circle, earning the win with eight strikeouts.

Now a perfect 8-0 at home, DWU has built serious momentum as the regular season winds down. The Tigers' focus shifts to a massive Senior Day showdown this Sunday, April 19, when they host second-place Midland in a doubleheader that could decide the conference title. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at McWhirter Field.
