The New England Patriots aren’t finished making roster moves after the completion of the 2026 NFL Draft.
New England is moving on from a tight end and a wide receiver who were on the outside looking in while competing with the six-time Super Bowl champions.
“The New England Patriots announced that they have released WR John Jiles and TE Marshall Lang,” the franchise stated.
“Jiles, 25, spent the last two seasons on the New England practice squad. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder was originally signed by the New York Giants as a rookie free agent out of West Florida in 2024. Jiles signed a futures contract with the Patriots on Feb. 10, 2026.”
“Lang, 24, had two stints on the New England practice squad last season and also spent time on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad.”
Considering neither offensive contributor made a significant impact with the Patriots, it was only a matter of time before New England cut them loose.
Jiles and Lang could land new NFL opportunities elsewhere, but their time with the Patriots is over now. Moving forward, New England’s main focus will be on acquiring Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown in a blockbuster trade and giving Drake Maye a clear No. 1 receiver.
Clearly, though, the first order of business was officially moving on from Jiles and Lang before the start of May.
