Crawley Town manager Colin Kazim-Richards is bracing for what he calls a potential "explosion" as his side faces a do-or-die final day showdown against promotion-chasing Salford City. With their Football League status hanging by a thread, the Red Devils need a result to avoid the drop.
Currently sitting just outside the relegation zone on goal difference, Crawley are level on 39 points with second-bottom Harrogate Town after 45 matches. Newport County and Tranmere Rovers are also in the danger mix, sitting just one point above the drop zone. It's a tight, tense battle that could go either way.
Kazim-Richards took over in March after Scott Lindsey's departure, and while he started strong with back-to-back wins against Gillingham and fellow strugglers Newport, his side has since gone four League Two matches without a victory. Now, they face a Salford team sitting fourth in the table, hungry to leapfrog Cambridge United into third place.
"It's going to be huge," Kazim-Richards told BBC Radio Sussex. "The fans will appreciate it because for the last seven games, the players have given everything. It would be an absolute explosion if we don't do what we're supposed to do."
The stakes couldn't be higher. After dropping out of League One last season, Crawley's 15-year stay in the Football League is under serious threat. A win on Saturday would not only secure survival but send a strong message for the future.
"Ten months of a season that has been an absolute grind—it's been one of those seasons where we've been stuck in the mud," Kazim-Richards added. "But if we put it to bed with three points, we're looking forward to the next season. You're sending out subliminal messages to the rest of the league."
Now in his first managerial role at 39, Kazim-Richards is calling on the Crawley faithful to pack The Broadfield Stadium and make their voices heard. "If you can get down, please come down," he urged. "Fans are important—especially for local clubs. We need your voice. We need you here."
As the final whistle looms, it's all on the line. For Crawley, survival is the prize—and they'll need every bit of fight, heart, and noise to get there.
