The Vegas Golden Knights thought they had won already.

Head coach John Tortorella had already left the bench area by the time Pavel Dorofeyev's overtime goal was overturned Monday night against the Utah Mammoth.

It was called back for offside on Jack Eichel, so they had to do it again.

Shea Theodore provided the actual final note of the song, depositing the game-winner for real later in the first OT period and sending Vegas home happy, even after it took a little while.

“Obviously, it sucks having that (first) one called back, but we kept our foot on the gas," Theodore told reporters after the game, via Sportsnet. "Scoring an OT winner is pretty special.”

It was a wild Game 4, with Vegas opening up a 3-0 lead, giving it all back, then pulling out the 5-4 overtime victory.

After the game, Golden Knights star Mitch Marner summed up the oddity of the finish.

“I think that’s maybe a first for me, just everyone jumping on the ice and then obviously the offside call,” Marner told reporters, via Sportsnet. “The building got pretty rocking there, and there was the sigh of relief for their fanbase and for them. For us, I think we just realized that we did a lot of good things throughout that period that gave us that look and as soon as we got back to the bench, it was the same idea — just trying to do the same things we did that got us that opportunity that we scored on. I thought we did that very well.”

The game, played in Salt Lake City, had crazy swings of emotions throughout for the fans -- including when the Vegas winning goal was disallowed, giving new life to their home Mammoth.

But in the end, the Golden Knights spoiled the home fans' fun, and the series is now tied 2-2.
