It may be May, but Mother Nature hasn't quite gotten the memo yet. A Mets-Rockies game was actually postponed due to snow this week, and windy conditions are still plaguing games across the Midwest and East Coast. That makes picking MLB home run props a bit trickier than usual—after all, home runs love warm weather. But Friday's forecast, while not perfect, should keep the schedule clear of rainouts. And we've found two sluggers in prime spots to go yard.
Let's start with the biggest name on the board: Juan Soto. The 27-year-old superstar has crushed at least 40 homers in back-to-back seasons, including his one memorable year alongside Aaron Judge in the Bronx. But so far in 2026, he's only managed four dingers in 22 games, thanks in part to a stint on the injured list. His timing is still off—he's batting just .174 this month with a .391 slugging percentage—but there's reason for optimism on Friday.
Soto will be at hitter-friendly Chase Field in Phoenix, facing Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson. And Nelson has been struggling mightily: 1-3 with a 6.61 ERA and seven homers allowed in just 31.1 innings. At home, it's even worse—an 0-2 record with a 14.40 ERA and four homers surrendered in three starts spanning only 10 innings. That's a recipe for a power resurgence.
Soto did end a five-game homer drought on Wednesday, though that shot came at Coors Field, which always comes with an asterisk. Still, this is a great spot for him to find his stroke. Once shortstop Francisco Lindor returns from the IL to anchor the top of the Mets' lineup, Soto should see more hittable pitches. But for now, Friday night in the desert could be the perfect stage for a solo show.
