ESPN College GameDay didn't make it to Austin in 2025. But the popular pregame show will be at DKR for Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State Buckeyes.

ESPN College GameDay is heading back to Austin in 2026, and this time, the Longhorns faithful won't be left waiting. After missing out on hosting the iconic pregame show last season—when the crew set up in Columbus for Texas's trip to Ohio State—the stars have aligned for a return to Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.

The announcement comes as a major boost for Texas fans, especially after a 2025 season that saw the Longhorns' momentum falter, costing them a chance to host GameDay. But 2026 promises a fresh start, with the show set to broadcast live from the Forty Acres for the highly anticipated Week 2 clash against the Buckeyes on September 12. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. CT, setting the stage for a prime-time showdown under the lights.

This stop marks a historic milestone: the 501st airing of College GameDay. Fans can expect the full star-studded lineup, including hosts Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, and Kirk Herbstreit. The show's return to Austin also brings back memories of last year's visit to Columbus, which was Lee Corso's final appearance on the program—a bittersweet moment for college football enthusiasts.

Texas has a storied history with College GameDay, appearing in 29 matchups overall, with this being the 10th time the show has set up shop in Austin. However, the Longhorns will be looking to break a frustrating trend: they're currently on a four-game losing streak when hosting the show. The last time Texas won as the host was back in 2009 against TCU, giving them a 5–5 record in such games. The most recent home appearance came in 2024, when then-No. 1 Texas fell to No. 5 Georgia, 30–15.

With the Buckeyes coming to town, this game promises to be a defining early-season test. For Longhorns fans, it's a chance to reclaim home-field advantage and turn the tide in front of a national audience. Get ready, Austin—College GameDay is coming, and the energy will be electric.
