As the summer transfer window heats up, both Juventus and AC Milan have been linked with a blockbuster move for Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski. The Polish superstar is reportedly weighing up his options at the end of the season, sparking intense debate across the football world.

Lewandowski, widely regarded as one of the finest finishers of his generation, could become a free agent this summer. While Barcelona are keen to keep him, the 36-year-old's potential departure has put Serie A's biggest clubs on high alert.

Juventus, in particular, are in the market for a proven goal-scorer as they prepare for a major overhaul of their forward line. The Bianconeri are expected to move on from Dusan Vlahovic, Lois Openda, and possibly Jonathan David, creating a clear need for an experienced, reliable striker to lead the line.

With his exceptional track record and goal-scoring pedigree, Lewandowski would bring a wealth of experience to any side. Both Juventus and AC Milan view him as an attractive option to bolster their attacking ranks and compete at the highest level.

However, not everyone is convinced that signing a 38-year-old (as he would be next season) is the right move for clubs with ambitions of long-term success. Former Serie A star Paolo Di Canio has voiced strong reservations about the potential transfer.

"There are those here who are getting excited about Romelu Lukaku and Rafael Leão, with all due respect. And we're waiting for Robert Lewandowski at 38," Di Canio said, as reported by Tuttojuve.

He drew a colourful analogy to make his point: "It reminds me of when Serie C players, after retiring, would come to play at Bar Corallo, in Quarticciolo, my neighbourhood in Rome. We'd see them and say, 'Wow, they're great!' But that's the beginning of the end."

Di Canio's comments highlight a broader concern in football: the temptation to rely on ageing stars rather than investing in younger, hungrier talent. For Juventus and AC Milan, the question remains whether Lewandowski's proven class is worth the risk, or if it's time to look to the future.
