Sometimes in baseball, the story isn't written by the stars at the top of the order, but by the grit and clutch performance of the lineup's foundation. That was the case Tuesday night at Haymarket Park, where the bottom third of the Nebraska batting order sparked a thrilling comeback to secure a 5-4 victory over in-state rival Creighton.

The game started with adversity for the Huskers. Creighton jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, powered by a two-run homer from Nate McHugh in the first inning and a solo shot from Nick Venteicher in the second, putting Nebraska's pitching staff on its heels.

But the momentum shifted dramatically in the bottom of the second. After a leadoff walk, designated hitter Drew Grego announced the Huskers' response, launching a two-run, opposite-field home run to cut the deficit in half. This was just the beginning for the bottom of the order.

The real turning point came in the third inning. With two outs and two runners on, the trio of Grego, Josh Overbeek, and Cayden Brumbaugh delivered under immense pressure. Grego and Overbeek ripped back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game, before Brumbaugh drove in the go-ahead run with another clutch hit. Just like that, a 4-0 deficit became a 5-4 Nebraska lead.

From that point on, the Husker bullpen slammed the door shut, holding Creighton scoreless over the final seven innings to seal the win. This victory was especially sweet, as it clinched the season series against the Bluejays for Nebraska for the first time since 2017, marking a significant milestone in this fierce rivalry.

It was a classic example of a complete team effort, proving that every spot in the lineup can be the difference-maker when the game is on the line. For the Huskers, the heart of the order showed its heart when it mattered most.
