Apr. 14—Dayton natives and twin brothers Jeff and Steve Nagel had a chance to go to the NFL Draft two years ago in Detroit as part of the Cincinnati Bengals' "Inner Circle" representatives, but had to decline the invitation because of a schedule conflict. For lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fans Jeff and Steve Nagel, a missed opportunity two years ago has made their latest honor even sweeter. The twin brothers from Dayton, affectionately known as the "Bengals Twins," have been selected to represent the franchise in the exclusive "Inner Circle" at the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.

This prestigious invitation is a dream come true for any superfan. Each year, the NFL chooses only seven primary fans from each team's fanbase to participate in the draft's inner sanctum during the first two days of selections. For Jeff and Steve, this moment caps a remarkable 44-year journey as dedicated season ticket holders.

"I don't think our feet have hit the ground," Steve Nagel said. "We're so excited." The brothers had previously been invited to the draft in Detroit but had to decline due to a scheduling conflict. After realizing what they missed, they vowed not to let another chance slip away.

Their Bengals fandom is a true family legacy. It began by watching their uncle and aunt, Ron and Wilma Nagel, who were devoted season ticket holders and regulars at training camp. When Ron passed away unexpectedly and Wilma's health declined, the torch—and the tickets—were passed to the twins.

Starting with seats just three rows from the top of the old Riverfront Stadium, their commitment never wavered. When Paycor Stadium opened, they secured better seats through a lottery, but their support extended far beyond the stands. The brothers are also active in players' foundation events, believing strongly in supporting the team both on and off the field.

That decades-long dedication is precisely what caught the Bengals' attention. A routine call to their season ticket representative turned into a life-changing invitation. This time, there was no hesitation. For two brothers who have lived and breathed Bengals football for nearly half a century, walking into the NFL Draft as official team representatives is the ultimate recognition of their fandom.
