Piotr Zielinski has just added another glittering chapter to his Serie A career, securing his second Scudetto with a second different club. After tasting league glory with Napoli in 2022/23, the Polish midfielder has now done the same with Inter Milan. It's a remarkable achievement that places him among just 78 players in Serie A history to have won the Italian title with two different teams.
But here's where things get truly elite. Of those 78, only a handful have managed to lift the Scudetto with three different clubs. In fact, just six players have pulled off this rare feat, and the club hasn't welcomed a new member since the turn of the millennium.
The last to do it was Attilio Lombardo, a lightning-fast right winger who seemed to collect titles wherever he went. Lombardo claimed his first Scudetto as a starter with Sampdoria in 1990/91. He repeated the trick with Juventus in 1996/97, this time as a super-sub. His third came with Lazio in 1999/00, though he played a reduced role with 10 appearances and a single goal.
Before Lombardo, centre-forward Aldo Serena went one better, winning four Scudetti with three different clubs. Serena's journey began with Juventus in 1985/86, where he scored 11 goals as a key player. He then moved to Inter and topped the Serie A scoring charts with 22 goals in 1988/89. His third title came with Milan in 1991/92, followed by another the next season, bringing his total to four league championships.
The 1970s and 1980s produced another multi-club champion in Pietro "Pierino" Fanna, who amassed an incredible five Scudetti. Fanna joined Juventus at just 19 and won the title in his first season. He became a decisive figure for the Bianconeri in their next two title wins, then played a key role in Hellas Verona's historic 1984/85 championship. He later added a fifth Scudetto with Inter in 1988/89.
Going further back, striker Sergio Gori achieved the three-club milestone even earlier, winning titles with Inter, Cagliari, and Juventus in the 1960s and 1970s.
For Zielinski, this second Scudetto is a testament to his consistency and adaptability. While the three-club club remains exclusive, his name is now etched alongside some of Serie A's most decorated travelers. And who knows? At 30, there might still be another chapter to write.
