It would be no surprise to see Liverpool conduct a midfield summer transfer refit.

Arne Slot has been relying on the same cast of midfield characters for a couple of seasons now. And the Premier League title-winning head coach is getting diminishing returns from some of them.

Alexis Mac Allister is beneath his best form and Ryan Gravenberch would surely benefit from a move away from the No6 position.

Factor in a complicated contract scenario for Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo’s injury and you can see why Slot and Richard Hughes would be keen to boost numbers in the middle.

A deal could now be possible for the long-coveted Eduardo Camavinga.

The 23-year-old midfielder will be put up for sale this summer - with his red card against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final second leg last week seen as “the final straw” for his future.

Under contract until 2029 - Madrid will now settle for €70m (£61m) for the France international according to a report in Defensa Central.

“Camavinga hasn't been having a good season, and the final straw came in the tie against Bayern,” the report reads.

“The Frenchman has been singled out, and Real Madrid are already considering putting him up for sale. Several teams are interested, but they won't accept just any price for his transfer.

“Real Madrid will not accept €50 or €60 million for Camavinga's transfer. The minimum price they expect is €70 million; they won't sell him for less.

“Premier League clubs are also closely monitoring him, believing he could be a good fit. His more physical profile, with his ability to cover ground and contribute significantly, could suit the English style of play.”

Eduardo Camavinga is a 2002‑born France international who plays for Real Madrid, having joined from Rennes in 2021 and since evolved from impact substitute to core piece of their midfield group.

A left‑footed central midfielder comfortable at the base or as a number eight, he has also spent significant time filling in at left‑back, underlining his rare blend of athleticism, aggression and technical security.

On the pitch he is a disruptive ball‑winner and tempo‑setter: he presses forward to break up play, covers huge ground in defensive transitions and then drives forward with the ball to break lines.

In possession he keeps it simple in deeper areas but has the capacity to carry through pressure and connect quickly with Madrid’s attackers.

Born in Cabinda, Angola and raised in France, Camavinga came through Rennes’ academy and became their youngest ever professional before earning a move to the Bernabéu and a rapid promotion to the senior France squad.

His mentality and ability to adapt across roles have been consistently praised by coaches and teammates. Contract‑wise, he renewed with Real Madrid in November 2023 on a deal running to 2029.
