Netflix just dropped the official trailer for "Rousey vs. Carano", and eagle-eyed MMA fans will notice something missing: any actual fight footage from the UFC careers of the stars involved. The trailer, promoting a card stacked with UFC veterans like Ronda Rousey, Francis Ngannou, and Nate Diaz, relies instead on shaky camera work, quick cuts, and studio sparring sessions. Add a throaty narrator and some hip music, and you've got yourself a trailer—even if it's a far cry from the polished hype packages fans are used to.

It's a workaround born of necessity. MVP, the promotion behind the event, doesn't have access to the UFC's extensive library of fight footage. So they've had to get creative, cobbling together what they can. While it's not the slickest production, it's still a step up from the AI-generated content the UFC has been pushing lately.

Netflix's Instagram caption—"Blink…and you bleed"—adds a dramatic flair, though it feels more suited to a horror film than a fight card. Still, for most MMA fans, the appeal is simple: a lineup of fan-friendly fights available with a Netflix subscription. The pre-fight promotion might be a bit rough around the edges, but the real test will be whether the streaming giant can deliver a smooth, glitch-free event on fight night.

Jake Paul, co-owner of MVP, sees this as a pivotal moment for the sport. "It's very, very needed in the sport," he told Complex News. "The UFC has had a monopoly for too long, and fighters haven't had another place to go where they get exposure and better pay. MVP is changing that with some of the biggest names and the biggest streaming platform. It's a monumental shift for MMA fighters and fans alike."

"Rousey vs. Carano" is set for May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Whether the trailer hits or misses, the real action will speak for itself.
