Yesterday IPL match result: Noor Ahmad leads CSK to 32-run win over KKR

Noor Ahmad returned figures of 3/21 as Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs on Tuesday to register their second win in a row. Chennai posted 192/5 after being asked to bat, with contributions from Sanju Samson (48) and Dewald Brevis (41). Noor then led the bowling effort with his left-arm wrist spin to restrict Kolkata to 160/7 in their chase, leaving them without a win after five matches.

The Chennai Super Kings are finding their rhythm at just the right time. On Tuesday, a brilliant bowling performance, spearheaded by the young Afghan sensation Noor Ahmad, powered CSK to a convincing 32-run victory over the struggling Kolkata Knight Riders, marking their second consecutive win.

Put in to bat first, Chennai posted a competitive 192/5 on the board. While no single batter dominated, vital contributions came from Sanju Samson (48) and the exciting young talent Dewald Brevis (41), setting a challenging target. The real story of the night, however, was written with the ball.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad was the chief architect of Kolkata's downfall, weaving his magic to return excellent figures of 3/21. His crucial spell, which included dismissing Ajinkya Rahane (28) and Cameron Green for a golden duck on consecutive deliveries, broke the backbone of KKR's chase. Despite a fighting 35 from Ramandeep Singh and an unbeaten 31 from Rovman Powell, Kolkata could only manage 160/7, falling well short.

This result leaves KKR in a difficult position, still searching for their first win after five matches. For Chennai, after a rocky start to the season with three losses, back-to-back victories have provided a massive boost, lifting them up the points table as they continue to build momentum. The team eagerly awaits the potential return of skipper MS Dhoni, who is recovering from injury.

Reflecting on the match, CSK's Ajinkya Rahane praised the bowling unit's effort to restrict KKR after a strong powerplay. "I thought with the ball, we were terrific. 190 on this wicket was a very good score, and pulling back after their start was an amazing job," he said, while acknowledging his batting unit needed one player to anchor the innings deeper.

The IPL action continues unabated, with focus now shifting to Wednesday's clash where the Royal Challengers Bengaluru will host the Lucknow Super Giants.
