BOSTON - It's another raw, cold day at Fenway Park, where the Yankees - riding a four-game winning streak - and Boston Red Sox will play the second game of their three-game set.
It's lefty Max Fried (2-1, 2.97 ERA) against Boston lefty Ranger Suarez (1-1, 3.22 ERA). In his career versus Boston, Fried is 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA in five starts. He started three times against the Sox in 2025 (1-1, 1.96 ERA).
After going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts and a hit-by-pitch, Ben Rice - who started Tuesday vs. lefty Connelly Early - is not in the Yanks' lineup against Suarez.
Lefty hitters Ryan McMahon (6-for-16, .375) and Trent Grisham (3-for-8, .375, HR) have had some success against Suarez, but neither is in the lineup tonight. Amed Rosario is back at third base and Randal Grichuk, coming off a 2-for-4 night with an RBI double, is in left field.
Earlier Wednesday, the Yankees added an extra reliever - recalling right-hander Jake Bird - as lefty starter Ryan Weathers went on the paternity list.
Weathers' next turn is scheduled for Saturday at Houston, having last pitched Sunday at Yankee Stadium, earning his first Yankees win, 7-0, against the Kansas City Royals.
