The NBA Draft lottery is set for this weekend, and it's shaping up to be one of the most thrilling in years. With a loaded prospect class featuring names like Cameron Boozer, Darren Peterson, and AJ Dybantsa, analysts believe this draft boasts multiple players who could be No. 1 picks in a typical season. That means every team in the lottery is hoping for a stroke of luck—and a chance to land a franchise cornerstone.

But Yahoo Sports' Tom Haberstroh is stirring the pot with a bold prediction. On The Kevin O'Connor Show, he suggested that if the Sacramento Kings win the lottery, the top prospect—likely AJ Dybantsa—might "pull an Eli Manning" and refuse to report to the team. For those unfamiliar, Manning famously forced a trade after being drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2004, a move that reshaped NFL history.

Haberstroh's reasoning? Today's college stars have unprecedented leverage thanks to NIL deals. "This is a guy that went to BYU, got the money and all the power... made the choice himself," he explained. "All of these athletes in the NIL era are used to having that agency. They're used to making that decision for themselves." In the past, players had little say in where they landed. Now, with lucrative endorsement deals and a sense of control, Haberstroh argues it's only a matter of time before a top pick exercises that power.

He pointed to the Kings as the most likely target, given their history of organizational struggles. "You cannot be an incompetent organization and just luck your way into the No. 1 overall pick and not have that variable looming overhead," he said. Whether it's Dybantsa or Cam Boozer—whose father Carlos played 13 NBA seasons—Haberstroh believes the dynamics are shifting. For Kings fans, this weekend's lottery could bring more than just a pick—it might bring a high-stakes drama that echoes Eli Manning's legendary standoff.
