As a native of Parma, Ohio, WWE superstar The Miz wears his pro sports allegiance on his sequined sleeve. So while promoting this weekend’s WWE Backlash 2026, The Miz had a few thoughts about the Cleveland Cavaliers’ NBA playoff series…

When WWE superstar The Miz steps into the ring, he brings the same fire he has for his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. A proud native of Parma, Ohio, The Miz recently appeared on ESPN's "Get Up" to promote this weekend's WWE Backlash 2026—but he ended up schooling host Mike Greenberg on NBA history.

The Miz, never one to hide his sports loyalties, shared his bold playoff predictions for the Cavaliers as they face the Detroit Pistons. "I want to see the Cleveland Cavaliers come into the playoffs and take out the Detroit Pistons," he declared. "Then it's going to be the Knicks and the Cavs. We're going to take them out. Then it's going to be in the NBA Finals with the Thunder, and we're going to take out the Thunder because we're the lightning."

Greenberg, perhaps caught up in the moment, responded with a fist bump and a glaring oversight: "And so the Cavaliers would then win their first-ever NBA championship."

The Miz didn't let that slide. With the confidence of a champion—and the facts to back it up—he corrected the ESPN host. "Not first ever. We've won a championship before. LeBron won us a championship." He was referring, of course, to LeBron James leading the Cavs to their historic 2016 title, a Game 7 victory over the Golden State Warriors that still echoes in Cleveland sports lore. Greenberg quickly admitted his mistake, saying, "That's exactly right. Somehow I managed to forget that one."

For fans keeping score, the Cavaliers are currently down 1-0 in the series after a 111-101 loss in Detroit. Game 2 tips off Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video—a must-watch for Cleveland faithful hoping to even the score.

Meanwhile, The Miz has his own battles to fight. At WWE Backlash 2026, taking place Saturday at Tampa's Benchmark International Arena, he'll team up with Kit Wilson to face Danhausen and a mystery partner. The card is stacked: Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu, Seth Rollins battles Bron Breakker, U.S. Champion Trick Williams takes on Sami Zayn, and IYO SKY faces Asuka. The action kicks off at 6 p.m. ET, with the first hour airing on ESPN2 and the full event streaming on the ESPN app and ESPN.com.

Whether you're cheering for the Cavs or the WWE superstars, one thing's clear: The Miz knows how to make an entrance—and he's not afraid to set the record straight.
