The 6-foot-3 freshman from Australia is TCU’s first addition of the offseason.

The TCU Horned Frogs women's basketball program has secured a major building block for its future, landing a commitment from Stanford transfer Lara Somfai. This marks the team's first significant addition of the offseason as they look to reload following consecutive Elite Eight appearances.

Somfai, a 6-foot-3 forward from Australia, arrives with immediate impact potential. As a freshman for the Cardinal, she started all 32 games, averaging an impressive 10.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest. Her ability to contribute on both ends of the floor makes her a prime candidate to fill the frontcourt void left by the graduating All-Big 12 standout, Marta Suarez.

Her freshman campaign was decorated with accolades, including ACC All-Freshman Team honors and four ACC Rookie of the Week selections, highlighting her rapid adaptation to the collegiate game. Somfai's skill set projects as an ideal fit alongside sophomore center Clara Silva, potentially forming a formidable new interior duo for the Horned Frogs.

Born in Hungary and raised in Australia before attending IMG Academy in Florida, Somfai brings a well-traveled and proven competitive pedigree to Fort Worth. Her commitment signals a strong start to TCU's offseason and provides a cornerstone piece as they aim to build upon their recent postseason success.
