Wisconsin women's basketball star Destiny Howell is taking her talents to the professional level. The standout guard, who spent her senior season with the Badgers, has officially declared for the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Howell announced her decision with a statement reflecting on a lifelong dream. "I'm excited to announce that I will be declaring for the 2026 WNBA draft," she wrote. "Ever since I was 9 years old, it's been my dream to play professional basketball. I'm finally stepping into that moment, trusting wherever god takes me. Ready to work."

Her final collegiate season in Madison was a memorable one. Howell averaged 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, playing a key role in the Badgers' inspiring WBIT tournament run to the semifinals, which snapped a difficult 10-game losing streak.

Howell's five-year college career, which began with four standout seasons at Howard University, concludes with impressive totals: 1,924 points and a reputation as a prolific three-point shooter, attempting 900 shots from beyond the arc. Her declaration comes at an exciting time for the WNBA, which is seeing unprecedented growth and player compensation, offering Howell a fantastic platform to launch her pro career.

As she prepares for the next chapter, Howell added a note of gratitude: "I appreciate everyone who's been part of the journey and supported me along the way." The basketball world will now watch to see where this promising guard lands in the upcoming draft.
