Fresh off an appearance in the National Championship game, it's clear the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey program is continuing to get better.
Head coach Mike Hastings may have had quite a few players sign professional contracts, but that just goes to show how talented this program truly is.
Losing to Denver wasn't easy, but Wisconsin hasn't lost a single player to the transfer portal this offseason. In fact, College Hockey News used their CHIP system (College Hockey Individual Point value) to determine that the Badgers are this season's biggest winner in the portal.
Wisconsin is currently +116.5, according to College Hockey Insider Mike McMahon. Of the Top 10 teams, no other program is in triple digits. For reference, No. 10 UMD and No. 9 Quinnipiac combine for +120.4.
This ranking system hurts teams who have a ton of players entering the portal, but rewards them for adding big names. Arguably, no team has added bigger names than Wisconsin. Hastings additions of J.J. Wiebusch and Alexis Cournoyer more than justify this ranking, and Badgers fans shouldn't forget they also added Dylan Compton.
