Wisconsin basketball learns top five, commitment date for Donovan Davis

Kaukauna native Donovan Davis has officially put the Wisconsin Badgers in his top five.

The Wisconsin Badgers have made the cut for one of the state's top young talents. Kaukauna native Donovan Davis, a 6-foot-7 power forward currently starring at Freedom High School, has officially included Wisconsin in his top five college choices.

Davis, ranked as the No. 32 overall recruit in the 2027 class by Rivals and No. 39 by 247Sports, is widely considered a top-10 power forward nationally and the No. 2 player in Wisconsin. His recruitment represents a significant opportunity for head coach Greg Gard to follow in the footsteps of Luke Fickell's successful in-state recruiting efforts.

The competition for Davis' commitment is fierce. He's narrowed his list to Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Iowa State, and Marquette. For Badgers fans, the silver lining is that only two of those schools—Iowa and Nebraska—would face Wisconsin annually in Big Ten play. Marquette is a yearly non-conference rival, leaving Iowa State as the most palatable alternative if Davis chooses to leave the state.

In an exclusive update with Rivals' Joe Tipton, Davis also revealed that he will announce his college commitment on Wednesday, May 6. Until then, Badgers fans can only hope that home-state pride tips the scales in Wisconsin's favor.
