Winnebago earned another Big Northern Conference Championship Thursday night in girls track & field.

Winnebago continued its reign over the Big Northern Conference on Thursday night, claiming the team championship at the girls track and field meet. The Indians amassed 143 points to outpace a competitive field, with Oregon finishing second at 113 points and Genoa-Kingston taking third with 77. The victory adds another chapter to Winnebago's storied tradition in the conference.

The team's depth was on full display, as Winnebago athletes contributed points across nearly every event category. In the field events, senior Karsyn Palmer led the way with a first-place finish in the discus, launching a throw of 117 feet, 6 inches. Sophomore Bella Williams added a strong second-place effort in the same event at 112 feet. Sophomore Ida Fager soared to victory in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 10 inches, while junior Audra Mecumb cleared 8 feet, 2.5 inches to win the pole vault.

Winnebago's relay teams were equally impressive, capturing the 4x200 relay in 1:47.03 and the 4x800 relay in 10:15.24. The 4x400 squad also contributed with a second-place finish, clocking in at 4:14.11.

Oregon proved to be a formidable challenger, led by sophomore standout Jillian Hammer. Hammer dominated the sprint events, winning the 200 meters in 25.43 seconds and the 100-meter hurdles in 15.04 seconds, while also taking second in the 100 meters at 12.61 seconds. Senior Noelle Girton added a victory in the shot put with a mark of 10.68 meters, and junior Lorelai Dannhorn claimed the triple jump title at 10.39 meters.

Rockford Lutheran made its presence felt with senior Jordyn Ballard, who swept the 100 meters (12.52), 400 meters (59.46), and anchored the winning 4x100 relay team (49.52). Dixon's Daniela Lovett showcased her endurance, winning both the 1600 meters (5:29.15) and 3200 meters (11:51.83). Byron's Ashley Potter took the 800 meters in 2:25.60, while Stillman Valley captured the 4x400 relay in 4:13.74.

The meet highlighted the depth of talent across the conference, with athletes from all nine schools contributing to a night of spirited competition. For Winnebago, the championship is a testament to the program's commitment to excellence, combining seasoned veterans and rising underclassmen to build a winning formula.
