Logan Sargeant's motorsport journey has taken a thrilling new turn. After his Formula 1 chapter with Williams concluded in 2024, the American driver is now fully immersed in the world of endurance racing, making his full-time return with Ford in the World Endurance Championship.
This weekend at Imola, Sargeant will debut in the LMGT3 class, sharing the #88 Ford Mustang for Proton Competition. But his future is already mapped out on an even faster track: he's confirmed for Ford's top-tier Hypercar programme starting in 2027.
In a recent interview, Sargeant opened up about his transition from the F1 spotlight. He described taking a deliberate break after his F1 exit, enjoying time with family and golf in Florida, before the competitive itch returned. Stints in IndyCar and IMSA's LMP2 class followed, where he quickly regained his speed and confidence.
"Getting back into it was very fun," Sargeant said. "Showing up to Indy, the IMSA race, and being extremely quick after not driving for a year was pretty fun. I think that led to bigger things."
Now, he's adapting to a completely different beast. Trading the high-downforce single-seaters for the heavier, less-aerodynamic Ford Mustang GT3 presents a fresh challenge. "It drives very different," he admits, highlighting the new skills required in the multi-class, multi-driver arena of WEC.
Perhaps most telling is his outlook on the past. When asked if he misses Formula 1, Sargeant's focus is firmly on the exciting road ahead with Ford, suggesting a driver revitalized by a new challenge and a clear path forward in global motorsport.
