James Caan's fiery temper as Santino "Sonny" Corleone made him one of the most memorable characters from The Godfather, Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 crime epic.
The film is considered one of the greatest of all time to this day, and its cultural impact remains as potent as ever. In fact, one elite NFL Draft prospect got his name from Caan's character: Sonny Styles.
The Ohio State product is actually named Alexander Styles, but his father, Lorenzo Styles Sr., started calling him "Sonny" at age 2 because of his hot-headedness. Sonny admits that as a kid he broke game controllers and often tried to fight his brother, Ohio State safety Lorenzo Styles Jr., so the nickname seems justified.
"I used to be a little crash out when I was younger," Styles said on the Downs 2 Business podcast.
Styles has a strong case to be the best pure athlete in the draft. He stands 6-foot-5, 244 pounds and put on a show at the NFL Combine with a 4.46 40-yard dash and 43.5" vertical jump.
He won't wait long to hear his name called on draft night.
