The Dallas Cowboys led by Jerry Jones are making moves. Whether or not they are making good ones, it's still up for debate. As of late, they were faced with a decision about George Pickens. The front office hoped that a franchise tag would end their woes but it's apparently just the start of a long saga. David Mulugheta, who was the agent of Micah Parsons, is now involved and it looks like history is starting to repeat after just a year.
Reportedly, Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones of the Cowboys called agent David Mulugheta. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said that the call was to address the future of George Pickens after he was given a franchise tag. Nothing much came of the conversation except that it was described as 'professional and cordial'.
Now, this is not the first time that the Cowboys have tried to address Pickens' future with them. The first solution was to give him a franchise tag which is worth $27 million. Clearly, this was not going to work after the wide receiver put up career-best numbers of 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns alongside a Pro Bowl selection. Next, COO Jones said that they are not going to discuss any long-term contract negotiations with Pickens just days before the NFL Draft.
The situation between Pickens and the Cowboys is becoming increasingly clear. He will likely either hold out until the front office decides to give him a lucrative deal or want out. With Mulugheta in the mix, the odds of the situation looking like the same one that Micah Parsons dealt with have increased. If a deal does not come to life or even a promise of a better contract, Dak Prescott will lose one of his weapons as the Cowboys' odds of being a Super Bowl contender decrease.
