Aaron Rodgers’ Steelers visit could decide Pittsburgh’s 2026 plans as contract talks, quarterback options, and NFL rumors continue.

Aaron Rodgers is heading to Pittsburgh this weekend, and this visit could be the moment that defines the Steelers' 2026 season. While it might look like just another routine trip, the stakes are much higher than they appear.

The 42-year-old quarterback hasn't put pen to paper yet, but NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport dropped some major hints that a deal is likely coming. Rodgers is expected to meet with the team this weekend, and according to Rapoport, this isn't just a casual stop—it's the final step before signing a new contract with Pittsburgh.

Earlier this week, rumors swirled that Rodgers might be headed to the Arizona Cardinals. But Rapoport quickly shut that down on The Pat McAfee Show, saying, "No legs for that one. Certainly don't expect it. If he is going to play, it will be for Pittsburgh." The Cardinals drafted Carson Beck in April and have Jacoby Brissett holding out of voluntary workouts, but none of that seems to change Rodgers' thinking.

What makes this visit especially intriguing is the reunion factor. Rodgers would be linking up once again with head coach Mike McCarthy, who coached him during his prime years with the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018. That partnership produced a Super Bowl title in 2010, and Steelers fans are hoping for a little bit of that magic in 2026.

Rodgers finished the 2025 season with a solid 94.8 passer rating, throwing for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns against just 7 interceptions over 16 games. He still showed flashes of that vintage Rodgers brilliance, even though the season ended on a sour note with a 30-6 Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans.

At 42, Rodgers isn't the mobile quarterback he once was, but his arm and football IQ remain elite. If this weekend's visit goes as expected, Pittsburgh could have its franchise quarterback locked in for another run. For Steelers fans, this might be the most important trip of the offseason.
