The 2025-26 Indiana Hoosiers are beginning to assemble, and the transfer portal is delivering some serious firepower to Bloomington. Head coach Darian DeVries secured a major backcourt boost this week, headlined by a homecoming star.
The biggest splash is the addition of Notre Dame point guard Markus Burton, a former Indiana Mr. Basketball. Burton is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign where he led the ACC in scoring during league play, averaging an impressive 23.5 points per game. Despite an ankle injury shortening his season, his explosive start—placing him among Notre Dame's elite in a key statistical category—signals a game-changing talent returning to his home state.
Burton isn't arriving alone. DeVries fortified the guard rotation with two more top-100 transfers: Duke's Darren Harris, a former top-50 recruit and state champion, and Georgia Tech's Jaeden Mustaf, a versatile 4-star prospect from Overtime Elite. This trio will join forces with the lone returning scholarship player, Trent Sisley, and a highly-touted freshman class.
While the new backcourt looks promising, the roster rebuild is far from complete. With six players graduated and six more entering the portal, DeVries still has significant work to do in filling out the lineup. The early returns, however, suggest Indiana is aggressively targeting high-caliber talent to quickly retool for the competitive Big Ten landscape. The focus now shifts to rounding out the roster with complementary pieces to build a cohesive unit.
