The University of Utah made waves in the 2026 NFL Draft when offensive tackles Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu both went in the first round—a historic feat that marked the first time two teammates from the school were selected that high. Fano landed at No. 9 with the Cleveland Browns, while Lomu went No. 28 to the New England Patriots. It was only the third time in NFL history that two offensive tackles from the same school were picked in the first round.
But the Utes' draft success didn't stop there. After the draft, four more former Utah players signed as undrafted free agents: center Jaren Kump (Chicago Bears), guard Tanoa Togiai (Washington Commanders), linebacker Lander Barton (Los Angeles Chargers), and defensive end Logan Fano (Cleveland Browns). Running back Bryce Duke also earned a minicamp invite from the San Francisco 49ers.
Utah has now had at least one player selected in each of the last five NFL drafts, including first-round picks Devin Lloyd and Dalton Kincaid in previous years. With that kind of momentum, all eyes are on which Utes could hear their names called in the 2027 draft. Here are four potential candidates to watch.
Wayshawn Parker, Running Back
At 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, Parker already has the ideal frame for an NFL running back. Now, it's all about consistency. Last season, he shared carries with NaQuari Rogers for much of the first half, never topping 11 carries per game. But everything changed in October, when Parker exploded for 145 yards against Colorado, kicking off a streak of four straight 100-yard games—he just barely missed a fifth with 95 yards against Kansas. He finished the 2025 season with an impressive 6.6 yards per carry. If Parker can replicate that production as Utah's clear lead back, expect NFL scouts to come calling. The coaching staff has already signaled they plan to feature him heavily.
