The Cricket News takes a look at the best economy rates by teams and players in IPL 2026.

The battle for bowling supremacy in IPL 2026 has been fiercely contested, and the numbers are in. When it comes to keeping the runs down, one team has emerged as the clear leader, while others are scrambling to find their rhythm.

At the top of the standings, the Gujarat Titans have been the most disciplined bowling unit in the tournament, boasting an impressive economy rate of just 9.16 runs per over. Right on their heels are the Chennai Super Kings, with a razor-thin margin at 9.17 runs per over, proving that the two sides are locked in a tight race for the title of the most economical attack.

The Kolkata Knight Riders follow closely at 9.37, with the Lucknow Super Giants at 9.38 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at 9.39, rounding out the top five. These numbers highlight just how competitive the bowling has been among the elite teams this season.

On an individual level, KKR's spin wizard Sunil Narine has been nearly unplayable. With 31 overs bowled and nine wickets to his name, he leads all bowlers (with at least 15 overs) with a phenomenal economy rate of just 6.8 runs per over. Following him is Gujarat's all-rounder Jason Holder at 6.94, while Chennai's Akeal Hosein (7.24), Lucknow's Mohsin Khan (7.45), and RCB's veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar (7.54) complete the top five most economical bowlers.

However, not every team has found their groove. The Mumbai Indians have struggled the most, posting the worst bowling economy in the tournament at 10.74 runs per over. Their pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, has had an uncharacteristically quiet start to the season. After going wicketless in his first five matches, he currently holds an economy rate of 8.89, which isn't enough to crack the top 10 bowlers this year. The yorkers and cutters that once made him a nightmare for batters haven't had their usual bite.

Adding to Mumbai's woes, the supporting cast has been inconsistent. Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar have struggled to make an impact, while the spin trio of Allah Ghaznafar, Raghu Sharma, and Mitchell Santner have been taken to the cleaners on multiple occasions. Even a massive total of 243 against Sunrisers Hyderabad wasn't enough to secure a win, underscoring just how fragile their bowling attack has been.

As the IPL 2026 season progresses, all eyes will be on whether the Titans can maintain their stranglehold or if a challenger can tighten the screws. For fans and fantasy players alike, tracking these economy rates is key to spotting the game-changers on the pitch.
