Former Michigan Football players are trying to make an NFL roster after getting signed as an undrafted free agent. Here’s how we think they’ll perform:

Every year, the NFL Draft is just the beginning. For a handful of former Michigan Wolverines, the real battle starts now—as undrafted free agents fighting for a spot on an NFL roster. While going undrafted makes the path tougher, it doesn't close the door. Here's a look at four Michigan UDFAs and their chances of making the final cut.

TJ Guy – Baltimore Ravens
If any Michigan UDFA has a clear edge, it's TJ Guy. He's reuniting with former Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who is now the Ravens' head coach. That familiarity could be a game-changer. Guy finished his Michigan career with 66 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. Those numbers may not jump off the page, but he was often underutilized in a defense that struggled to find its rhythm last season. Minter knows Guy's potential firsthand, and with a defensive mastermind in his corner, don't be surprised if Guy earns a roster spot come fall.

Dominic Zvada – New York Giants
Kickers don't always get the spotlight, but Dominic Zvada has a leg worth watching. Though he never played for Jim Harbaugh, it's hard to believe the Harbaugh brothers didn't take notice of his clutch performances over the past two seasons. The Giants signed veteran Jason Sanders in March, but Zvada's accuracy and range make him a compelling option. He struggled a bit in 2026, but in 2025 he was nearly automatic for Michigan. Making the roster isn't a lock, but Zvada has the talent to impress in camp and earn a spot.

Damon Payne Jr. – Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs made it clear before the draft: they wanted to strengthen their defensive line. After taking a defensive lineman in the first round, they're still looking for depth and stability. That's where Damon Payne Jr. comes in. He appeared in all 13 games for Michigan last season, recording 16 tackles and two tackles for loss. Before that, he played at Alabama, where he tallied 30 tackles, two tackles for loss, and half a sack. Payne may not be the flashiest name, but the Chiefs' lingering uncertainty along the defensive front gives him a real opportunity to make an impression in training camp.

For these former Wolverines, the journey is just beginning. With the right attitude and a little luck, any one of them could turn an undrafted start into an NFL career.
