The FSU Seminoles had a disappointing week in California, getting swept by the Stanford Cardinal. The performance caused them to fall four spots and out of the top 10 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll.
The Seminoles are now the No. 12 team in the country with a 29-14 overall record and a 12-9 ACC record. They are now 8-8 on the road and have lost their last six conference road games.
All three games against Stanford were close, with FSU getting walked off on Saturday and Sunday. They averaged just 4.6 runs per game in the series and once again struggled to execute with runners on base. They opened the week with a 4-1 win over North Florida on Tuesday.
The Seminoles are the third-highest-ranked ACC team, behind the No. 2 North Carolina Tar Heels and No. 3 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. No. 19 Boston College and No. 24 Virginia give the ACC five teams in the top 25. Miami and Pitt both received votes.
FSU will return to action on Wednesday when they host the USF Bulls. They will then host the Pitt Panthers for a three-game series as they look to get back on track.
