When is Luka Doncic coming back? Injury update for Lakers-Thunder NBA Playoffs Game 3

Luka Dončić was officially ruled out Friday for Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals between the OKC Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers.

The stakes couldn't be higher as the Los Angeles Lakers face a must-win situation in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder—but they'll have to do it without their superstar point guard. Luka Dončić has been officially ruled out for Saturday night's matchup, marking another tough blow for a team already trailing 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.

Dončić has been sidelined since April 2 with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, and while he's making progress, the road back remains a slow grind. The five-time All-Star told media earlier this week that he's begun running, but he hasn't yet been cleared for full-contact work. "I'm just doing everything I can," Dončić said. "Every day, I'm doing things I'm supposed to do. Obviously, I'm recovering, and now I'm working."

The initial MRI, taken on April 3, suggested an eight-week recovery timeline. If that holds, Dončić would miss the entire second-round series against the Thunder, leaving Lakers fans to wonder what could have been. "I don't think people understand how frustrating it is," Dončić admitted. "All I want to do is play basketball, especially this time of year. It's the best time to play basketball. It's very frustrating."

For a player who thrives in the postseason spotlight, watching from the sidelines has been an emotional challenge. "Seeing what my team is doing, I'm very proud of them. But it's been very tough just to sit and watch them play," he added.

The Lakers will also be without another key piece, as the Thunder will be missing their own All-Star in Jalen Williams, who was ruled out for Game 3. The series shifts to Los Angeles for a pivotal 7:30 p.m. tip-off on ABC, and with both teams missing star power, it's anyone's guess who steps up next.
