UConn fans, get ready for a freshman who might just become the ultimate team player. Meet Junior County, a 6-foot-4 combo guard and the No. 39 prospect in ESPN's final Class of 2026 rankings, who's set to join the Huskies this summer with a humble, win-first attitude.

What kind of player is County? Just ask his high school coach, Paul Peterson, who recalls a telling moment from March. During a barbecue at Peterson's house, County's Wasatch Academy teammates were watching the Elite Eight game between UConn and Duke. As the Blue Devils built a commanding lead, the teasing began. "It's over for them!" they joked. "They're waiting for you, Jun!" But County didn't waver. As his teammates drifted away, he stayed glued to the screen. Minutes later, he ran to Peterson, eyes wide: "Pete, they're only down five!" The whole crew rushed back to watch, and when Braylon Mullins hit that clutch shot, County was running around the house in pure joy.

That passion and loyalty define County's game. He's not the type to demand the spotlight—he earns it. "The thing about Jun is he just fits anybody," Peterson says. "He doesn't have to be 'the guy.' He doesn't have to have the ball. He can guard the best player, spot up, create, or just find a way to fit in." Peterson highlights County's elite defense and shot-making ability, noting he can score even when plays aren't called for him. "He can go get it out of the mud," Peterson adds.

And the numbers back it up. In his senior season at Wasatch, County averaged 19.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game, earning Utah's Gatorade Player of the Year honors. For a UConn team that thrives on versatility and grit, County looks like a perfect fit—a freshman who's ready to embrace any role, from lockdown defender to clutch scorer.

Huskies fans, get ready for a player who's all about the team. Junior County is coming to Storrs, and he's bringing that "ultimate professional" mentality with him.
