With the first of two fourth round draft choices in the 2026 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected Jeremiah Wright, an Auburn Tigers offensive guard. Wright was the 132nd overall pick and 32nd choice of Round 4. The Saints had conducted a pre-draft interview with Wright and moved quickly when he was still on the board in day three. It also marked the fifth consecutive year that the Saints have drafted an offensive lineman within the first four rounds.

Wright is only the fourth player the Saints have ever drafted from Auburn. The last and most successful was Saints Hall of Fame defensive lineman Frank Warren, selected with a 1981 third round choice. Wright is expected to upgrade the depth of the New Orleans front with the hopes that he'll develop into challenging for a starting role. Here's a look at what the Saints are getting with this choice.

Wright started his Auburn career in 2020 as a defensive tackle. He converted to the offensive side in 2023, but started every game at right guard for the Tigers over the last two seasons. Wright plays with a nasty demeanor and finishes every block with fury. Most of his concerning traits could be fixed easily with experience and repetition, giving him the upside of a power blocker.

New Orleans checked off a big need when they signed left guard David Edwards in free agency. However, the Saints still have a liability up front with Cesar Ruiz at right guard. As a fourth round pick, there is no guarantee that Jeremiah Wright can challenge Ruiz for his spot. The expectation is that Wright will immediately upgrade the quality of depth along the interior, with the hope that he could someday (soon) supplant Ruiz or at least push him into better play.
