The second round of the NFL draft has been kind to the Chicago Bears over the years, and in large part, it has been general manager Ryan Poles who has hit on the Day 2 picks.
From cornerback Kyler Gordon, wide receiver Luther Burden III, defensive tackle Gervon Dexter, cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, and tackle Ozzy Trapilo, those are just some of the names Poles has drafted and have made an impact on the Bears roster in their short time.
On Friday, Chicago will have not only one, but two draft picks in the second round, and they could go any which way. But here’s how I think the Bears could go at No. 60:

Mandatory Credit: Raj Mehta-USA TODAY SportsPrime spot for a defensive tackleAt pick No. 60, Chicago, which to this point has most likely selected an edge rusher and or a safety or even left tackle, is in a prime spot to select a defensive tackle. The idea of selecting Kansas State center Sam Hecht will be floating around, but with a third-round pick, if Hecht is still available, that could be the spot they take a chance on a center.
But at pick No. 60, defensive tackle feels like the spot where it could benefit the Bears, and the options late in the second round could feature high upside talent. Players like Lee Hunter, Gracen Halton, and Domonique Orange are all players who could still be options for Chicago.
At pick No. 60, Hunter and the potential upside would be tremendous for the Bears. He moves people, can fill the gaps against the run, and drives with his hands into the pocket. With a defensive line that already has veteran Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter, who each season are improving their production, there is room for so much development in Hunter.
Halton is more of an undersized defensive tackle, but he brings lots of power and an array of moves to get past centers and guards. He is another name at defensive tackle that I could see Chicago throwing their card in for and adding him to an already deep defensive line class.
Following the second round, I feel the production for lots of the guys the Bears are looking for drops off, which makes me think those trenches will be addressed in the top three picks that Chicago has.
