West Virginia basketball has made a significant addition to its frontcourt, securing a commitment from transfer center Mouhamed Sylla. The former Georgia Tech big man brings considerable potential to Morgantown, aiming to bolster the Mountaineers' interior presence for the upcoming season.

Sylla's freshman year was unfortunately cut short by an ankle injury, limiting him to just 16 appearances. However, he showed flashes of his high-ceiling talent early in the non-conference schedule, living up to the preseason hype that surrounded him as a top-30 recruit. Before choosing Georgia Tech, the Senegalese center was heavily pursued by major programs, including Kansas.

This move addresses a clear need for West Virginia. The team finished in the bottom four of the Big 12 in blocks per game last season, and Sylla's 6-foot-10 frame and defensive instincts are expected to help shore up the paint. He was ranked among the top 20 available players in the transfer portal as of mid-April, making this a notable acquisition for head coach Darian DeVries.
