In a tense London derby that had massive implications at both ends of the Premier League table, Arsenal snatched a dramatic 1-0 victory over West Ham United, courtesy of a late Leandro Trossard strike. The result sends the Gunners five points clear at the top of the title race, while pushing the Hammers deeper into relegation danger.

The match was a cagey affair, with few clear-cut chances—but it wasn't short on drama. Just when it looked like the game was heading for a stalemate, Trossard popped up with a monumental goal that could prove decisive in the title chase. However, the victory didn't come without controversy. West Ham thought they had equalized in the dying minutes, only for VAR to rule it out after determining that goalkeeper David Raya had been fouled—a decision that will have ripple effects at both ends of the table.

Arsenal started brightly, with Trossard slipping a lovely ball through to Riccardo Calafiori, but the Italian couldn't get his shot away quickly enough. From the resulting corner, Trossard thought he had scored twice in quick succession—first denied by a fine save from Mads Hermansen, then seeing his second effort crash off the woodwork as West Ham survived the early onslaught.

Calafiori came close again, flicking on a Declan Rice free-kick that was miraculously kept out by Konstantinos Mavropanos on the line. William Saliba looked set to tap home the rebound, but El Hadji Malick Diouf got back just in time to clear it. It was a theme that would continue throughout the night—West Ham's defense standing firm, but Arsenal's pressure relentless.

The Hammers grew into the game as the first half wore on and nearly took the lead just before the break. Aaron Wan-Bissaka drove forward and picked out Taty Castellanos, whose diving header forced Raya into his first save of the match, diving low to his right. Jean-Clair Todibo then very nearly got on the end of a goalmouth scramble but couldn't make proper contact, and the first half ended goalless.

The second half started slowly and cautiously, with both sides seemingly aware of the stakes. But Arsenal's persistence paid off when it mattered most. With the clock ticking down, Trossard found the breakthrough that could define Arsenal's season—and leave West Ham staring down the barrel of relegation.
