Brighton forward Danny Welbeck says the extended break between matches has left him feeling "rested, recharged and ready to go" against Newcastle United this weekend. Fabian Hurzeler's side have been out of action since their 3-0 win over Chelsea on 21 April, but they travel to St James' Park on Saturday to continue their push for European football. "We are all definitely full of confidence," 35-year-old Welbeck told BBC Radio Sussex.

Brighton & Hove Albion's veteran striker Danny Welbeck has sent a warning shot to Newcastle United: he's rested, recharged, and ready to rock.

The 35-year-old forward, who has been a key figure in the Seagulls' pursuit of European football, credits an extended break between matches for his renewed vigor. "I'm feeling fit and strong, in a rhythm, and feeling good," Welbeck told BBC Radio Sussex ahead of Saturday's clash at St. James' Park.

Brighton haven't played since their impressive 3-0 victory over Chelsea on April 21, giving Fabian Hurzeler's squad ample time to recover and prepare. That extra rest could prove crucial as the team pushes for a top-flight finish with just four games remaining in the season.

"We are all definitely full of confidence," Welbeck added. "We've had some really good results and performances recently, which gives us momentum."

The experienced forward, who recently passed the 50-goal milestone for Brighton and is approaching 200 appearances for the club, emphasized the importance of staying focused on the task at hand. "You do have a look at the table at the end of the weekend, but we have to focus on what we can do—getting three points."

For Welbeck, this season has been a personal renaissance. "I just keep pushing every single day. It has been a good period for me. I've really enjoyed my time here at Brighton—and long may it continue."

As the Seagulls prepare to soar into St. James' Park, all eyes will be on whether this well-rested Welbeck can help deliver another crucial victory in their European dream.
