Indiana football is heading to the White House today to celebrate their College Football Playoff national championship—a well-earned honor after a historic season.
The Hoosiers capped a perfect 16-0 campaign with a thrilling 27-21 victory over Miami in the CFP national title game at Hard Rock Stadium. This trip to Washington D.C. comes just after the team wrapped up spring practice, with several key players from that championship run hearing their names called during the 2025 NFL Draft. Former Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza led the way, going No. 1 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, Mendoza won't be joining his teammates to meet President Donald Trump. "I believe May 11 is the first day of OTAs," Mendoza explained earlier this month. "I don't have the calendar. If it is on the first day of OTAs, I'm at the bottom of the totem pole, I've got to prove myself. I can't miss practice. As a rookie, I don't think that's a good look, and I want to best serve my teammates."
The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. today. It's a proud moment for the Hoosiers program, which has risen to national prominence under head coach Curt Cignetti. For fans looking to celebrate this championship spirit, donning Indiana gear is the perfect way to show support for a team that has achieved greatness.
