Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred in RCB’s thrilling two-wicket win over Mumbai Indians, taking four wickets and smashing a crucial six in the final over — his first IPL six since 2016. Krunal Pandya’s gritty 73 also proved vital. Bhuvi later credited discipline, not motivation, for his success. The dramatic victory lifted RCB to the top of the IPL 2026 points table.

In a heart-stopping finish that had Wankhede Stadium on its feet, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched a last-ball thriller against Mumbai Indians, with veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar scripting a fairytale comeback in IPL 2026.

The 36-year-old bowling maestro turned back the clock in spectacular fashion, first dismantling Mumbai's batting lineup with a four-wicket haul before unleashing a moment of pure magic with the bat. With RCB needing nine runs off the final three balls, Bhuvi sent a Raj Angad Bawa delivery soaring over point for six — his first IPL maximum in a decade, dating back to 2016 against Rising Pune Supergiants. The stadium erupted as that single shot swung the momentum firmly in Bengaluru's favor.

"That six for sure, because I've bowled many times. I've taken a few wickets before as well. But yeah, six is the thing I've enjoyed the most," Bhuvneshwar admitted after receiving the Player of the Match award, his grin betraying just how special the moment was.

When asked about his enduring consistency at 36, the swing king offered a refreshingly honest take. "Honestly, motivation is a very overrated word for me... But the thing which keeps me going is the discipline," he said, crediting his personal trainers and physios for keeping him in peak condition.

While Bhuvi grabbed the headlines, Krunal Pandya's gritty 73 off 46 balls on a tricky pitch proved equally vital in RCB's chase. Captain Rajat Patidar was quick to acknowledge the all-rounder's contribution. "I think... especially KP (Krunal Pandya). I think he's the man who's done it for the team," Patidar said, before praising his star bowler: "I think the way he controlled the ball... it's very difficult to play him."

The dramatic victory propelled RCB to the top of the IPL standings, while Mumbai Indians remained anchored near the bottom. For fans of the game, it was a reminder that in cricket — and especially in the IPL — heroes can emerge from the most unexpected places, armed with nothing but discipline and a never-say-die attitude.
