Washington running back Jordan Washington, who sustained a neck injury on April 4 that required him to be taken off the field at Husky Stadium in an ambulance, will miss all remaining spring practices. Coach Jedd Fisch said Saturday that Washington, a sophomore from Long Beach, California, will be out the remainder of the spring and then reevaluated in the summer. After the injury, Washington posted a photo of himself on social media and said that he was “doing well.”

Washington Huskies fans received concerning news this weekend as sophomore running back Jordan Washington will miss the remainder of spring practice. The promising back sustained a neck injury during a session at Husky Stadium on April 4th, an incident serious enough to require him to be transported off the field by ambulance.

Head coach Jedd Fisch provided an update Saturday, confirming Washington will be sidelined for the rest of the spring and reevaluated in the summer. In a positive sign, Washington himself posted on social media after the injury, sharing a photo with the message that he was "doing well." Fisch outlined the cautious recovery process, stating, "The first thing we have to do is get him out of his neck brace. Once we get that phase done, then we’ll go on from there and evaluate him. The doctors will lead us through that. We’re currently just in a wait and see."

This is a significant setback for a player poised for a breakout role. As a redshirt freshman last season, Washington was the Huskies' third-leading rusher with 233 yards, making him the leading returning rusher among the running back corps. His potential absence creates a notable gap in the backfield, especially with quarterback Demond Williams Jr. having led the team in rushing last year.

Coach Fisch expressed confidence in the team's depth at the position, highlighting the other options ready to step up. He pointed to redshirt freshman Quaid Carr, senior transfer Trey Cooley (from Troy), and senior Jayden Limar, who rushed for 262 yards last season at Oregon. Fisch's philosophy on roster building was clear: "You can never have enough running backs. It’s why we went into the portal late to bring one more guy in. We felt like you just didn’t know. We had youth. We didn’t have a lot of veteran presence."

In additional injury news, the Huskies will also be without senior safety C.J. Christian for the 2026 season. Fisch confirmed Christian suffered a torn Achilles during his rehab from a previous injury that limited him to just one game last season. "C.J. is out for the year," Fisch said. "Unfortunately, as he was rehabbing his return, he just had the traditional Achilles tear that you don’t even know happened." Christian, who transferred from Florida International, was looking to make an impact in his final collegiate season.

As the Huskies continue their spring preparations, the focus will be on player health and developing depth, with the hope that Jordan Washington can make a full recovery in time for summer camp.
