Follow along as the Nationals go for the sweep and a chance at a .500 record

The Washington Nationals are riding high after a dramatic comeback victory, and now they have their sights set on something even bigger: a series sweep against the Cincinnati Reds and a chance to climb back to .500 for the season. But standing in their way is a tough early afternoon start—historically a challenge for the Nats—and a flamethrowing young arm in Chase Burns.

With a right-handed pitcher on the mound, manager Blake Butera has shuffled the lineup to keep the momentum rolling. Luis García Jr., who has been red-hot at the plate, slides back into the lineup at first base. Jorbit Vivas gets his first start of the series as the designated hitter, while catcher Drew Millas makes his series debut after a tough outing in Miami that he’ll be eager to put behind him. Taking the mound for Washington is surprise ace Foster Griffin, who has a golden opportunity to push his team to an even record.

On the other side, the Reds have reshuffled their lineup to counter the lefty on the hill. It’s a brand-new look in the outfield, with Spencer Steer in left, Dane Myers in center, and Blake Dunn in right. Sal Stewart moves to first base, JJ Bleday takes over at DH, and Ke’Bryan Hayes slots into the infield. Backup catcher Jose Trevino gets his first start of the series behind the plate. On the mound, Chase Burns has been pitching like an ace, armed with electric stuff that he hopes will stop the Reds' bleeding after two tough losses.

Both bullpens have been heavily taxed in this series, so the starters will be expected to go deep. Fortunately, both teams have the right arms on the mound to eat innings and keep the game under control. Offense has ruled the series so far, but this pitching matchup could change the narrative entirely. Follow along in the comments below and let’s go Nats!
