Washington Huskies linebackers coach Brian Odom is wasting no time making an impact on the recruiting trail. Since arriving in Seattle, he's been laser-focused on building a formidable linebacker corps, and now he's setting his sights on one of the most promising young talents in the nation for the 2028 class.
Odom recently extended an offer to four-star prospect Landon Miller, a standout from De La Salle High School in Concord, California. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 210 pounds, Miller is ranked as the No. 107 overall player and the No. 7 linebacker in the 2028 class by the 247Sports Composite. Despite missing five games during his sophomore year due to an injury, his potential has already caught the attention of several powerhouse programs, including Arizona State, California, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC.
Miller's recruitment is heating up quickly, and Oregon—under head coach Dan Lanning—has been leading the charge. The Ducks have already hosted him for three unofficial visits, giving them a significant head start in building a relationship. For the Huskies, this means they'll need to work hard to close the gap, but Odom's track record suggests he's up for the challenge.
What makes Miller such an exciting prospect? His frame suggests he can easily add more weight, and his skill set is tailor-made for a modern linebacker role. Think of how defensive coordinator Ryan Walters plans to use Xe'ree Alexander in 2026—Miller could fill a similar position. He combines the size and strength to hold his ground as a run defender on the outside with the speed, range, and vision to sift through blockers and attack downhill, whether as a run stopper or a blitzer. During his sophomore season, he tallied 42 tackles, nine for loss, four sacks, and a forced fumble—numbers that hint at his game-changing potential.
Odom has already secured four commitments in the 2027 class, including three-star prospects Ethan and Justin Coach, Isaiah Leilua, and Titus Osterman. With that foundation in place, he can now turn his full attention to the underclassmen, and Miller is clearly at the top of his list. As the Huskies look to make their mark in the 2028 recruiting cycle, this offer signals their intent to compete with the best programs in the country for elite talent.
