The Washington Huskies hosted one of the top in-state pass rushers in the 2027 class for an unofficial visit during their spring game.

The Washington Huskies are making moves to strengthen their 2027 recruiting class, and they recently hosted one of the state's most disruptive defensive prospects during their spring game. Ty Tautolo, a three-star edge rusher from Lake Stevens High School, made an unofficial visit to campus on Friday, giving the coaching staff an up-close look at a player who could be a perfect fit for their defensive scheme.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Tautolo is ranked as the nation's No. 598 overall prospect and No. 51 edge rusher by the 247Sports Composite. Despite his three-star rating, his junior season stats tell a story of a player who wreaks havoc in the backfield. He racked up 90 tackles, including a staggering 30 tackles for loss, along with 6 sacks and a fumble recovery. Those numbers highlight exactly what defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and outside linebackers coach Aaron Van Horn are seeking.

What makes Tautolo such an intriguing prospect? His combination of size, length, and strength is already apparent on the edge. He plays with excellent power against the run and has plenty of room to add weight to his frame—a key factor for success at the next level. But it's his athleticism that truly sets him apart. He shows a natural ability to dip his hips and turn the corner to pressure the quarterback, traits that could translate well to the Big Ten's physical style of play.

With 16 offers already on the table, Tautolo is drawing interest from a who's who of college football programs. California, Michigan, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and USC are all in pursuit, making him a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. He hasn't scheduled any official visits yet, but the Huskies—who currently hold the nation's No. 10-ranked class—could move quickly to lock him in for a more formal visit.

Washington's defensive line recruiting is already off to a strong start, with commitments from four-star defensive tackle Jon Ioane and three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei. Adding a local talent like Tautolo would be a major boost as the Huskies continue building a defense capable of competing at the highest level. For fans of the purple and gold, keeping an eye on this disruptive pass rusher could pay off in a big way down the road.
