The Los Angeles Rams' selection of Alabama QB Ty Simpson was a curious one on so many levels (it earned a "D" grade from our experts).
Some felt it was a reach for a quarterback who isn't a top-13 talent. Others wondered why a win-now team would make a win-later move. And then there's the question about whether head coach Sean McVay can work his usual magic on the young Matthew Stafford heir.
On top of all that, a lot of folks on social media looked at McVay's responses in the post-first round press conference. He seemed... non-plussed. Here's a look at some of what he said and the reaction on social media:
He’s over the moon. Never seen anyone this ecstatic about their future franchise guy. pic.twitter.com/KWOcHIxcfk
THIS SEAN MCVAY VIDEO IS WILD TO WATCH…You can basically see the steam pouring out of his ears after the #Rams drafted Ty Simpson with the 13th pick.McVay wanted to add another weapon so they can win a ring in the final years of Matt Stafford’s prime. pic.twitter.com/cC8Oyy2vdw https://t.co/owlbGXx1sz
I’ve covered a lot of first-round pick pressers across four beats. This was by far the most muted I have seen a regime about the player they drafted. https://t.co/g0W27EjINE
